The Project
As our last project of the first semester, we were supposed to use everything we learned thus far along with what we are currently working on. With a culmination of these ideas we were supposed to create an art installation out of a few different options. My partner and I decided to make "The Residence of our Dreams" in which we built a model city out of materials available in the classroom. This city was fully environmentally friendly and sustainable.
Concepts
Wind Power: Uses the motion of wind turbines to generate and store energy. This is a cost effective, zero emission option
Nuclear Energy: This uses nuclear reactions to produce energy. It then harnesses and stores that energy. This is a reliable option although it is risky.
Solar Power: Solar power uses artificial photosynthesis to harness energy made by the sun.
Albedo: This is the proportion of the incident light or radiation that is reflected by a surface, typically that of a planet or moon.
Living Roof: This is the idea of a garden or trees on the roof of a building. You can see the benefits above.
Urban Green Areas: These are areas in cities that allow for trees or grass to flourish and make the city a cleaner place.

Reflection
I feel like this project was a great way to wrap us the semester. It really took all that we learned and put it together to test our knowledge so far. One thing that I really enjoyed is the building process. I really enjoy hands on projects as I feel like it really extends my learning. I can't think of any negatives to this project as I feel that it all went very well. In the end, I feel like it was a perfect way to end the semester.
